About the Recipe

Indulge in the nourishing benefits of homemade bone broth with this simple recipe. Start by collecting beef and chicken bones and storing them in your freezer until you're ready to use them. When you're ready to make the broth, simply add the frozen bones to a pot and cover them with water. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to a low simmer. Let the bones simmer for 6-8 hours, adding additional water if needed.

During the last 20 minutes of simmering, add flavorings like onion, garlic, carrots, thyme, and oregano to enhance the taste of the broth. After 20 minutes, remove the bones and seasonings, and skim off any frothy residue from the top of the broth. Allow the broth to cool so that the fat rises to the top, then remove the excess fat while leaving the gelatin, which is packed with nutrients.

Store the finished bone broth in glass jars in the fridge or freezer for later use. Enjoy the numerous health benefits of bone broth, including its rich collagen content, essential proteins, and amino acids that support various bodily functions and promote overall health and vitality. Unlock the potential of homemade bone broth with this easy-to-follow recipe!

* Collagen is essential for vitality and regeneration of cells. It is essential for good skin, hair, teeth, eyes and nails by keeping the cells "young".

* The proteins in bone broth are necessary for growth, immune function, hormone function and all metabolic processes.

* Bone broth contains the four amino acids (proline, glycine, glutamine, and alanine) necessary for healthy collagen and cartilage, healthy blood, fat digestion, detoxing, gut health, immunity, endurance, muscle mass, and anti-aging.

Ingredients

  •  Beef and/or Chicken bones. Store in plastic bags in your freezer.  When ready to make, use the frozen bones. No need to thaw.

  • Optional: onion, garlic, carrots, thyme, oregano, or other preferred spices

Preparation

Step 1

Add collected bones to a large pot

Step 2

Add enough water to cover the bones; bring to boil, then reduce to low simmer. Simmer on low heat for 6-8 hours. Additional water may need to be added during the simmering process. This can be left on overnight, if desired.

Step 3

During the last 20 minutes, flavorings/spice bag can be added.  For chicken and beef broth, you can add onion, garlic, carrots, along with some thyme and oregano.  However, the spice packet can be tailored or leave out altogether.

Step 4

After 20 minutes, remove all bones and seasonings. Skim frothy 'stuff' off the top.  Store in cool place so that fat rises to the top. Remove the excess fat (should be able to break it off), but leave the gelatin; this is the good stuff!  Mix the gelatin into the broth.

Step 5

Pour remaining liquid into glass jars. Store in glass jars in fridge or freezer for later use.
